Telangana Telugu Desam Party, popularly known as T-TDP is in shambles now-a-days due to leadership crisis and cadre is not showing any interest despite the meage influencd leaders on party activitis.
Utilizing the stituation, Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former minister Mothkupalli Narasimhulu’s comments that the Telangana TDP should merge with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi to boost the sagging morale of the party cadre created ripples in the political circles.
Naturally, the TRS leaders welcomed Mothkupalli proposal, saying it was the best proposal.
“We welcome all the Telangana TDP leaders into the TRS. We all feel like a family, if they join us,” said deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, who was once a major leader in the TDP from Telangana in the combined Andhra Pradesh regime.
While L Ramana brushed aside Mothkupalli comments saying the TDP is still very strong in Telangana and that it will contest all the 119 seats in the next assembly elections, TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah said some leaders are blackmailing the party leadership for their selfish gains.
Another TDP leader E Peddi Reddy said merger of the party with another party in a particular state is not possible as Telangana TDP is not a separate party but part of the national TDP.
An interesting proposal, however, has come from Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, who had recently defected from the TDP into the Congress party.
“It is ridiculous on the part of Mothkupalli to call for merger of the TDP with the TRS. No party leader or worker with self-respect will agree to such proposal. Instead, it is better the Telangana TDP should merge with the Congress party, which has the bright chances of coming to power. What is the point in joining a party which is going to lose the polls?” he asked.
On the other hand, How About Merging T-TDP With TRS? It is a known fact that the Telangana Telugu Desam Party is in dire straits. A dozen of its MLAs and its lone MP joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Many of its senior leaders also followed the suit and some others, including its firebrand MLA from Kodangal A Revanth Reddy joined the Congress party and a few other lower-rung leaders jumped into the BJP.
Whatever cadre that is left in the party is now a confused lot as to what the fate of the party would be in the next elections.
Under these circumstances, the best suggestion so far has come from the TDP senior leader and former minister Mothkupalli Narasimhulu.
On Thursday, Mothkupalli expressed view that it would be better to merge the Telangana TDP with the TRS so that the cadre would at least get some respect of being in a stronger party.
After paying floral tributes to TDP founder NT Rama Rao at the NTR Ghat on the occasion of his 22nd death anniversary, Mothkupalli made a sensational comment that the Telangana TDP is as good as dead.
“There is no future for the party. The party workers are in a state of confusion but there is none to give them support and moral courage. So, what is the point in running the party? It is better it is merged with the TRS,” he said.
He said the party workers were of the view that the Telangana TDP would soon disintegrate.
“Why can’t we merge the party with the TRS? After all, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was also from the TDP. So merger of our cadre with TRS will ensure political future of our workers,” Mothkupalli said. #KhabarLive
