The so-called all-party meeting convened by Telugu Desam Party and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Amaravati has turned out to be a damp squib, as none of the political parties had come forward to join hands with the ruling party to fight for the special category status.

According to reports, nobody was convinced of Naidu’s explanation as to why he had joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party and joined the National Democratic Alliance government, why he remained silent and even praised the Modi government in the last four years and why he changed his stand suddenly and asking everybody to support his struggle.

Except the representatives of employees’ unions who agreed to work for extra hours and wear black badges, no other party or organisation endorsed his suggestion to take the fight into the people and educate the youth.

“We have our own programmes of action and agitation. Why should we join your action plan?” CPI-M leader P Madhu said.

Since major political parties like Bharatiya Janata Party and YSR Congress party, besides fledgling Jana Sena Party boycotted the all-party meeting, it has lost its steam. So after six- hour marathon meeting with the other representatives, Naidu achieved nothing.
