Traffic congestion is a common problem for commuters in the city but the troubles double during road works, underground cable line works and etc. The underground cable lining works taken up by Telangana State Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (TSTRANSCO) at many locations in the city are causing inconvenience to the commuters.

Telangana TRANSCO started contriving a new project, laying 220 kilowatt underground cable, from Ring Road to Rethibowli. The construction work started on March 27 and will continue for the next 45-day. Works for another 220 kilowatt cable had been taken up from Erragadda Sub-station to Sri Nagar colony cross roads. One more line 132 kilowatt underground cable is being laid from Sri Nagar Colony to National Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) sub-station, the cable length is 5.605 kilometres.

Shashikanth Reddy, resident of Upparpally, who takes the Mehdipatnam road every day said, “The road is busy during peak hours, and because of the excavation works, the road is being narrowed and it is creating traffic jam. Moreover, due to the long U-turns near P V Narasimha Rao expressway, more and more wrong side drivers are creating nuisance.” The cable works between Sri Nagar Colony and Panjagutta are laid across the road which is causing difficulty to the commuters and pedestrians alike. There are no u-turns until the competition of work.

A resident of Sri Nagar colony said, “The cable is laid between the road and it is difficult for us to cross the road and move to the other side, either we have to drive for two kilometers or walk on the pole to reach the other side.” A regular traveler who uses Ring Road said, “Excavation debris is also left scattered on the road which is occupying much space on road and leading to frequent traffic jam.”

Several attempts made to contact TSTRANSCO were in futile as the officials kept transferring calls to other departments. #KhabarLive
