Amidst the indication of early elections, Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has shortlisted at least three leaders as potential candidates to contest from his party from each Assembly constituency in the next elections.
The TRS chief also deployed a team of leaders to ascertain the ground reality in every Assembly segment before finalising the party candidates. Apart from the regular survey reports, KCR will take into consideration the recommendations made by the team in the finalisation of the contestants by September, TRS leaders said, and added that the winning prospects of the candidates including the sitting MLAs will be the main criteria.
The survey reports hinted TRS would retain power as people are rallying behind the KCR’s party on a large- scale after the successful implementation of the recently launched Rythu Bandhu scheme. The number of aspirants eager to enter the fray on behalf of Telangana party has also increased in the recent months, a senior leader said, adding that KCR wanted to give party tickets to those who could win the election with huge majority.
Competition for tickets is high in the Assembly segments where TRS won in 2014 elections. The party leaders said that the senior most leaders in these segments are insisting on to give them an opportunity to enter into Assembly. The TRS leaders in the segments represented by the TDP and Congress MLAs, who joined TRS, are also demanding to consider them as potential candidates in the elections. Source said that KCR will hold one to one meeting with the shortlisted aspirants before finalising the names.
The TRS chief will also convince the aspirants who did not get party tickets to avoid the threat of rebel candidates in the elections. The district party unit leaders and TRS State secretaries were already roped in to gauge the bright chances of the winning of the party. The teams also updated the party high command the fast pace political developments taking place in every Assembly segment. #KhabarLive
