“In this new collection, I have toyed with many interpretations of my inner sanctuary, inspired from my own repository of dreams, ideas, memories and promises. It comes from a space of abundant nature and vivid imagery– a place that I find myself returning to in order to rediscover myself,” says designer, Shriya Bhupal. ‘Sanctuary’ comprises of an array of pieces suited for bridal couture, occasion and festive wear. There are also chic ready-to-wear pieces that combine innovative technique, craftsmanship and design.

The collection widely features surface embroideries and dimensional embellishments, often in layers of pastel tones and sharp, solid contrasts. Dark and light, soft and vivid, layered and pleated, ‘Sanctuary’ masterfully explores the idea of duality. Teased and textured fabrics in semi-circular or ‘petal’ patterns further essay this theme. A playful palette of colours ranging from pastels to earthy hues like merlot, fuchsia, midnight blues and ebony, seek expression through dual tones, achieved by layering and dyeing techniques.

In a surprise gesture, international Badminton gold-medallist, PV Sindhu walked in as showstopper wearing an evening gown in fushsia, with rich floral embroidery embellishing the flowy floor length gown and the one shouldered ruffled blouse giving it a modern touch. This was her very first public appearance since she has returned to India after winning the World Championships earlier in the week. #KhabarLive
