Due to global pandemic we all are lockdown since March this year onwards and in this situation and duration of aggressive #Covid, we are not allowed to go anywhere to just save our life and also to kick this pandemic as far as we can.

Although it’s not easy to see our daily life shattered with all our regular routine like morning walks, jogging, meeting friends, travelling, party and many more exercise’s we used to do but in all these mess we still left one thing to do which is more interesting and also joy of taste.

Instead feeling unfortunate you can make others feel happy bringing a smile on their pretty face by cooking some of the delicious dishes picked from various part of the country to make the homeland proud of its own taste.

Cooking has been my passion since my college days, inherited from my grandmother. Being a passionate ‘Home Chef‘ all my dishes and recipes were appreciated by my family members, colleagues, friends and relatives. Thus got me more inspiration to hook myself going on cook and I started showcasing the culinary skills through “Jai Ki Rasoi Se” from December 2015 on Facebook by sharing different types of recipes and dishes made across the world. Showing my love towards cooking being so fruitful to me as today my page is followed by over 1800+ people across the country and overseas too.

In the current lock down circumstances “Jai Ki Rasoi Se” shared around 20 recipes of different & easy to make regional cuisines by using bear minimum ingredients. Some of those are – Dal Dhokali, Pan Poran Dal, Aloo Methi followed by Dhaba’s culture, Sambar Rice, Lemon Rice, Sabudana Vada, Egg Fired Rice, Vegetable Pulao, Pachi Pulusu or Imali Ka Khatta, Hyderabadi Anda Biryani, Sabudana Khichdi, Tomato Chutney, Lasoon Khopra Chutney, Sabudana Kheer, Kali Urad Rajma Dal in Dhaba Style, Besan Pyaz Kachori.

So now we are sharing one of our most loving and easy to make dish followed by our beautiful Gujrat’s culture DAL DHOKALI, it needs very basic ingredient to make your lunch or dinner relish.

Ingredients

– Pigeon Pea (Toor Dal) – 1 Cup
– Wheat Flour (Atta) – 1 Cup
– Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 Table Spoon
– Red Chilli Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
– Turmeric Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
– Coriander Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
– Cumin Powder – ½ Tea Spoon
– Garam Masala Powder – ½ Tea Spoon
– Chopped Onion – 1
– Chopped Hara Dhaniya – 1 Bunch
– Chopped Green Chillies – 3-4
– Mustard & Cumin Seeds – 1 Tea Spoon
– Salt – According to Taste
– Oil – As per Requirement

Initial Preparation:
Wash pigeon pea properly and pressure cook it. Keep it aside to all the pressure get released automatically

In a mixing bowl add wheat flour, one tea spoon oil and little salt. Mix and mad soft dough. Cover and rest it for 15 minutes

Dhokhali – Preparation
Divide the dough in equal portion. With the rolling pin make thin chapati. Cut into small pieces of any desired shape.

Spread the piece in any plate and allow them to rest for 5 to 10 minutes

Main Preparation
Heat oil or Ghee in a pressure pan or cooker. One the oil or ghee is sizzling add mustard & cumin seeds and allow them to splutter

Add finely chopped onions and green chillies. Mix and cook till the they become light brown

Now add ginger garlic paste. Mix and cook till the moisture from the paste gets evaporated

Add all dry ingredients like – red chilli, turmeric, cumin, coriander & whole spice powder. Mix all and cook till oil get separated

At this add boiled pigeon pea, one glass of water and mix it properly. Season it with salt according to taste and cook till it come to a boil

Now add the cut pieces of chapati & finely chopped green coriander and mix them properly

Cover the pressure pan or cooker and cook till you get 3 whistle. Switch of the gas and allow the pressure gets subsidize

Now the dish is ready can be served hot by garnishing with finely chopped green coriander.

Dal Dhokali is light on stomach and comes with health benefits too. And let’s agree, no amount of burgers, pastas or fries can match a pot meal made at home, as everyone belives that home-cooked meals are the ultimate comfort food.
