Bullet train work in India is long hanging. The scheduled time of completion of the project is now looking forward to about five years. The reasons are many. Low share of Japanese companies, less interest. The high rates of bidding for the auction and the cancellation of tenders. Delay in land acquisition and problems in underground projects.
According to a report – This project was scheduled to be completed by December-2023. But now this deadline has increased till October-2028. After talking to the Japanese companies who are helping in this project, this deadline has been moved forward.
In fact, under this ambitious project, a 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor is being constructed. For this, a loan of 0.1 percent has been taken from Japan. The entire system is also being prepared with the help of Japanese technology.
21 km difficult path
A brief report has been prepared by a reliable source that says that the most difficult of this whole bullet train project is a 21 km route. It is a 21 km stretch underground, including a seven km under-sea (undersea) route. Advance boring machines and special technology will be required for this 21 km stretch. This path is the most difficult to prepare and Japan’s cooperation is not being found in it. Because of this, the entire project is on hold.
At the same time, bidding of 11 tenders by Japanese companies has been fixed at 90 percent more than the estimated rate. India has refused to pay a higher rate. Because of this, these tenders are also stuck.
Work is also being stalled due to land acquisition. 430 hectares of land is to be acquired in Maharashtra. Out of this, about 100 hectares have been acquired. At the same time, the acquisition work of about one thousand acres is to be done in Gujarat, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
