Indian ace cricketer MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings have lost seven out of their 10 games in IPL 2020 and this has put their qualification for the play-offs in jeopardy. MS Dhoni’s team are currently in the last spot and they will have to win their remaining games in order to stay in contention.
Mathematically, they are still in with a chance but for that, they will have to hope some teams defeat sides that are above them so that they can barge in through the door.
MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings are currently in the last spot with just three wins from 10 games in IPL 2020. With just four games remaining, their chances of qualifying directly are all but over. Now, they can only hope to get there mathematically and through help from other teams.
MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings are the only team to have made it to the playoffs in every edition of the tournament that they have featured in but this record is now under severe threat. Another loss for Chennai Super Kings could spell curtains for their campaign and IPL 2020 might be the worst ever performance for MS Dhoni and his team.
After 10 years of finishing at the top and ending up with the golden spoon three times, there is a big chance that MS Dhoni’s team might end up in the opposite end of the spectrum which is the wooden spoon.
Chennai Super Kings’ remaining games are against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab. For starters, they will have to win all four games by a convincing margin so that their net run-rate also improves. If Chennai Super Kings win all four games, they get to 14 points which sometimes can be the cut-off for the play-offs.
In IPL 2010, Chennai Super Kings qualified to the play-offs on 14 points and they won the title. The same with Mumbai Indians in IPL 2014, except that they got knocked out in the Eliminator itself.
Realistically, the best Chennai Super Kings can hope to finish is fourth. Unless Royal Challengers Bangalore have a disastrous streak of losing five games on the trot, they can at best finish third and no more. So, if Chennai Super Kings have to qualify for the playoffs, this is what every other team above must do to help them. #KhabarLive #hydnews
