Cloud computing is the key driving force for modern businesses that allows them to store the data on remote locations, access it on the web, and quickly ramp up the resources when needed. In the past few years, we saw major advancements in cloud technology and the inception of new cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services(AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

According to Gartner, the market for the public cloud has reached from $260 billion in 2017 to $411 billion by the end of 2020. Such trends are encouraging companies to optimize their costs and improve services to increase their position in the market. There numerous cloud service providers(CSPs) around the world, but CSPs AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure dominate the market. As per Naukri.com, there are more than 800 cloud computing jobs in Hyderabad and Intellipaat’s CEO Diwakar Chittora whose AWS course in Hyderabad are catering to thousands of learners from the city, says, “The enrollments are surely going to increase since e-learning is the future.”

These three cloud platforms dominate the market by providing various benefits like storage extension, on-demand services, resource management, and innovative solutions for smaller businesses. However, they do lack or differ from each other in one or another. In this blog, you’ll see what is the difference between these platforms and choose the best platform for your organization.

AWS vs Azure Google Cloud

Following are the various categories and features that establish a difference between these cloud platforms. Let’s discuss them in detail:

Features and Services

The basic capabilities of all the cloud platforms are largely similar. At the core, they provide all the basic features like self-service, autoscaling, SaaS & IaaS, identity management, storage, and networking. Also, these vendors use cutting-edge technology to create a high-performance computing network based on the requirements.

AWS provides on-demand services to various organizations, businesses, and governments. It utilizes Machine learning to improve the hosting capabilities and improve the performance of the servers. AWS recognition, Amazon Lex, and text to speed models are a few services a user gets from AWS. The best way to get well-versed in this topic is to take up an AWS Course.

Microsoft Azure uses AI tools to provide risk assessment, which allows the developers to test algorithms and applications before deploying them on the cloud. You can also access the marketplace for various off-the-shelf software.

Google Cloud Platform, on the other hand, uses a one-stop-shop AI platform, which helps organizations to build and deploy models based on deep learning libraries like TensorFlow. It also supports managed services like containers and Kubernetes.

Compute, Storage, and Networking

AWS offers EC2 instances that can be customized for various scenarios and tailored with many options. Other services related to EC2 instances such as EC2 container service, Kubernetes, Elastic Beanstalk for application development, autoscaling, AWS lambda, and more. AWS provides various storage services including Amazon Glacier for cold storage, Elastic file system for File storage,  elastic block store for Virtual servers, and Amazon simple storage service to achieve object storage.

The compute service of Microsoft Azure revolves around Virtual Machines. Tools like cloud services and resource managers help the user to easily deploy applications on the cloud and take the benefit of Azure autoscaling services. For object storage, Azure provides Blob storage, Managed disks for virtual servers, Azure file storage for file storage, Archive blog storage for cold storage.

The scalable compute engine from the google cloud platform provides high customization options, disk storage, performance, and virtual machines in the data centers. All three platforms support relational databases such as MySQL, NoSQL, Redshift, Bigtable, DynamoDB, etc. When it comes to the storage services, GCP offers Google cloud storage for simple object storage, compute engine persistent disks for virtual servers, Google cloud storage nearline for cold storage, and Avere as a file storage system.

Hybrid Options

It’s a growing trend where the data is stored and computing is performed on multiple cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and even On-premises infrastructure. For this, vendors have responded with various solutions to the customers who want to store some applications or data On-premises and store the remaining data on the public cloud.

With the launch of Outposts, AWS introduced their fully managed service where the customers can have on-premised pre-configured racks where they can AWS services as if it was their data center. It’s a fairly new technology which the majority of professionals don’t know much about. However, they can get reputed AWS Solutions Architect Certification and get the relevant skills.

Microsoft is perhaps the best option for hybrid developments thanks to the well-established Azure stack. It provides all the hardware and software required to create a shared management portal and code applications for simple interoperability.

Google released its hybrid cloud service platform named Anthos in the year 2019. It combines existing google services including the configuration management system, Google Kubernetes Engine, and GKE On-premises that unifies the Kubernetes deployment, administration, policies, and security.

Pricing

For EC2 and EBS, AWS has shifted its pricing from by-the-hour to by-the-second, which brought that into the line with Google cloud and Azure. However, an accurate comparison between the price models of these three services would not be possible as they slightly differ in features. A customer can try these services using free introductory tiers before actually buying the service.

Key Differences

Below are some of the key differences between the AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud:

Features AWS Azure Google Cloud
API management Amazon API gateway Azure API gateway Cloud endpoints
Kubernetes ElasticKubernetes Services(EKS) Kubernetes Service Kubernetes Engine
Data Warehouse Redshift  SQL Warehouse Big Query
Media Services Amazon elastic transcoder Azure media services  Cloud Video Intelligence API
Virtual Network Virtual private Cloud Azure virtual network subnet
Catching  ElasticCache Redis cache  CloudCDN
Pricing  Per hour, minute, or seconds Per-minute Per-minute
App testing Use device farms Use DevTest labs Use Cloud test labs
Security AWS security hub Azure security center Google Security command center

Conclusion

There are many factors that an organization takes into consideration when choosing the right cloud service provider. Although these three cloud providers are the top leaders in cloud technology, companies like IBM and Oracle are on the way to get a significant market share. Therefore, it’s imminent that organization analyze their requirements and the service they require to maximize the performance while maintaining data security.  #KhabarLive #hydnews
