At last, the ‘Work From Home’ saga ends in post pandemic. Now, companies and employees can enjoy their work, shifts from their offices and turn to normal activities.

As the government of Telangana decided and permitted to IT companies and employees to return workplaces and looks at IT offices to be fully functional by September end. The detailed order will be issued soon, according to Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary.

After remaining impacted for more than a year due to the Covid pandemic, Hyderabad’s IT corridor could soon shed the desolated look and return to its usual buzz. Information Technology (IT) Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan says Telangana government wants people to return to workplaces and looks at IT offices to be fully functional by September end.

“The position of State government is that the offices should be reopened. The vaccination rate in the State is going up. Almost all sectors including hospitality, retail and entertainment, have reopened and the infection rate in the city has not gone up,” he said.

The IT campuses not only support the livelihood of the IT professionals, but many others as well, and hence a prolonged shutdown of the offices has had a major financial impact on that sector. “Many people depend on the IT sector to run their kitchens. There are hundreds of transport employees, housekeeping staff, security staff and those working in office cafeterias who are suffering. Now that there is a steep decrease in Covid cases and with so many vaccination drives, we think it is the right time to open the offices,” Jayesh Ranjan pointed out.

Goldman Sachs might be reopening their office soon, he says adding, “some other offices are reopening their offices too. We are also talking to the senior management of some MNCs to start working from the office. This will induce confidence in the staff to start coming to the office.”

Krishna Yedula, Secretary General, Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), says, “many companies are waiting for the vaccination percentage to go up and having said that, I have to say that many MNCs have conducted drives to vaccinate their employees. The employers can look at more flexible options for employees to work from the office.”

Amid speculations of a possible third wave of Covid in the country, a section of the employees could be a little unsure of working from the office full-time. However, the authorities are confident that they have it all under control. Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said, “we are prepared to deal with any crisis. For now, we know that the situation is safe for the offices to reopen and some of them are already opening up.”

The government is prepared to deal with any unfortunate situation. “If there is a third wave of the pandemic, we are prepared for it. After successfully handling two waves of the coronavirus, the government has enough facilities, medical equipment, trained staff, medicines etc to deal with the situation. We are monitoring the situations in other States as well,” says Jayesh Ranjan.

Having worked from home for a good one year, most of the employees also want to return to the office — but not five days a week. Many employees are hoping that companies will go for a “hybrid model” of work — which will allow the employee to work from home and come to the office occasionally. #KhabarLive #hydnews
