Telangana women are keeping all eyes open to feel the first of its kind Mahila Durbar in the history of newly formed state.  A Governor is holding a public durbar against the government on every Friday in Raj Bhavan. This is against the constitution, experts feels.

All eyes are on Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan’s Mahila Darbar. The Governor, will hold a ‘Mahila Darbar’ to hear the unheard voices of women at the Raj Bhavan.

The programme will be held for an hour from 12 noon to 1 pm from Friday onwards. This Praja Darbar assumes importance as it is the first ‘Mahila Darbar’ being held in the backdrop of the recent incidents of crime against women like rapes and murders in the state and particularly the gang-rape of a minor in Hyderabad on May 28 and two other cases under the Pocso Act.

Politically, this may further strain relations between the Governor and the state government.

The Communists are opposing the Mahila Darbar of Dr Tamilisai which is aimed at hearing the grievances of women. But Congress leaders have welcomed it. TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy welcomed the Mahila Darbar by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan. Revanth said that there is no active government in the state and there is no response from it although rapes were taking place every day in the state.
CPI Secretary Dr K. Narayana said that the Governor has been crossing the Lakshman Rekha.

“Why is the Governor conducting a Mahila Darbar? The Governor could meet a representation and accept the memorandum given by them. But Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan is misusing the Raj Bhavan for politicking. Dr Tamilisai has a political background. However, she came here as Governor and has to behave accordingly,” he said.

He added that the BJP had increased its political attacks and the Governor is throwing a catalyst into the fire.

Dr Narayana said that the CPI has been opposing the TRS government. Allowing minors inside pubs is a crime as per the law. The government has to seize the pub and arrest the owners. Instead of that, the TRS government is trying to play down the incident. But the Governor’s actions are political and it is against the spirit of the Constitution. The Governor should cancel the darbar, he added. #KhabarLive #hydnews
