What is the matter?
In the Corona vaccine race, the vaccine created by Oxford University and Astrazeneca is currently underway. Trial is going on in many places. But there has been a mess in the trial. The mistake is that the trial of the vaccine has been stopped for a few days. And why? Because one candidate from the trial got sick after applying the vaccine.
This disease has been termed Potentially Unexplained by Astrazeneca. Meaning, there is no explanation right now. According to a news, the company released a statement on 8 September. The statement said that the trial is being stopped for some time. No information has been given about what the disease is yet.
Along with this, the trial of this vaccine is being stopped in the US and other countries including the UK for a few days.
So has this vaccine gone wrong?
No. The vaccine trial has been stalled for a few days, not forever. Anyway, Health News website Stat has reported that the volunteer whose health has deteriorated will be cured in a few days.
In India, this vaccine was being made by the Serum Institute of India (SII). Here too, there have been reports of stopping the trial for a few days. But SII CEO Adar Poonawala has said that there is no need to worry about it.
In an interview Poonawala said
“The trouble has occurred because of some neurological problems present in a particular volunteer. And right now we should wait for the details of AstraZeneca. But this has not happened because of the vaccine. “
At the same time, a spokesperson of AstraZeneca has called this obstruction a ‘routine action’, which is due to the occurrence of a potentially Unexplained disease in a volunteer during a trial.
According to a NewYork Times report, a volunteer involved in the trial was suffering from transverse myelitis. In this disease, due to infection of the virus, there is an injury in the spinal cord. But whether or not the vaccine had any effect on this disease, this question is still unanswered.
What next?
This problem came to light on 8 September. Just a day before that, on 7 September, Astrazeneca joined hands with 8 major drug makers for large-scale production of Vaccine. Astrazeneca has not even given an answer as to how long the entire review will take, and after how long the trial will begin.
Expert Opinion
After interviewing multiple experts the only conclusion we have is that the mass production vaccine is going to be started by the end of September and will be available in stock for general public from February 2021 to march 2021 in countries like India. #24x7newsalert
