A lot of attention has gone into planning a menu that has loads of proteins and carbohydrates to improve immunity and provide the energy needed to fight the coronavirus, hospital officials said.– A plate of idli, bread, jam, coffee, tea, a mix of all dry fruits including almonds, cashew, dates, eggs, and chicken curry for those who prefer non-vegetarian and sambar, daal for those who prefer vegetarian food.
Not a menu for guests in a hotel, but this is what health authorities are providing the COVID-19 patients at Gandhi Hospital.
A lot of attention has gone into planning a menu that has loads of proteins and carbohydrates to improve immunity and provide the energy needed to fight the coronavirus, hospital officials said.
To boost immunity, fruits like orange, sweet lime are also served, along with bananas for instant energy. The COVID-19 patients at Gandhi Hospital have unlimited access to mineral water on a daily basis, apart from other beverages like tea and milk. The beverages are served with Osmania biscuits, neatly packed in plastic plates.
Keeping in mind the needs of Muslim patients, who prefer to follow a strict regimen during the Ramzan month, the hospital has also come up with a special menu for Sehri and Iftar.
“The food is packed and delivered to patients. Extreme care is taken to ensure the food is clean and fresh. We are also providing free WiFi and have allowed our patients to use their mobile phones. There are instances where parents have tested positive and then their children. We can’t separate the family and that’s why we have provided a separate children’s ward for them,” Health Minister, Eatala Rajender, during his earlier media interactions said.
Most of the COVID-19 patients tend to lose their sense of taste because of their medical conditions. Gandhi Hospital officials said that despite such issues, they are doing best to ensure food tastes good and at the same time is also nutritive. #KhabarLive
