The delimitation of districts in Telangana done last year creating 31 districts out of the then existing 10 districts might have brought the administration closer to the people, but it is still creating a lot of confusion and chaos in the bureaucracy.

In the latest instance, which was brought to light by Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government on Wednesday issued a GO according administrative sanction for upgradation of 50-bedded community health centre/hospital into a 100-bedded area hospital at Gajwel at a cost of Rs 21 crore.

Needless to say, Gajwel assembly constituency is represented by none other than chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The GO issued by Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare states that Gajwel town is part of Gajwel district.

Accordingly, the copies of GOs were sent to District Collector, Gajwel, District Coordinator of Health Services, Gajwel district, District Medical and Health Officer, Gajwel district and District Treasury Officer, Gajwel district.

Surprisingly, there is no such district called Gajwel district in Telangana. After the GOs were released, despatched and posted on the Government official website, some sensible officer brought it to the notice of the higher-ups stating that Gajwel is only an assembly constituency, but not the district.

A few hours later, the department issued another GO, “rectifying” the mistake. The fresh GO mentions that Gajwel town, where the upgradation of hospital is being done, is in Medak district.

Accordingly, the GO copies were sent to Medak collector and other officials in the district.

Irony is that Gajwel is not in Medak district, though it was part of Medak district after delimitation last year. It has now come under newly-formed Siddipet district.

“This is the kind of administration KCR is running. His hasty decision of dividing districts indiscriminately led to so much confusion that the bureaucrats in Hyderabad do not know in which district the chief minister’s constituency falls,” Revanth ridiculed. #KhabarLive
