The newly constructed roads in Serilingampally, Kukatpally and other peripheral circles of Hyderabad were severely damaged after the Hyderabad received 4.6 cm rainfall. The moderate rainfall led to potholes opening up on the roads recently constructed by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Road Development Corporation (HRDC).

The roads near Lingampally-Tellapur entrance (near Lingampally flyover) and opposite Jayini multi-specialty hospital were damaged gravely.

K. Vasishta Chowdary of GNT Circle, Nallagandla, told #KhabarLive that this is an exposure to the quality of roads laid by the authorities. The road was gravely damaged for at least a kilometre with craters and potholes forming up. While the authorities have assured on social media that the issue would be resolved, Chowdary questioned why the new roads were damaged.

Pothuluri Veerabrahmam, a social activist said that it was miserable to see the roads of Kukatpally and western parts of Hyderabad which are prime locations of the city, clogged with rain water. Motorists are struggling as the authorities failed to take the required measures to pump out the water. He further said that the government departments claim attribution when everything is good but when things do not turn out well, the HRDC and the GHMC start to blame each other.

Reportedly, the civic body is constructing a new road in Sudarshan Colony, Road No. 1 of Serilingampally and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is laying down sewerage and drinking water pipelines in the area. Residents have requested the authorities to hold the construction of road until the completion of pipeline laying. #KhabarLive
