Corrections Policy

Corrections Policy

HYDNEWS is committed to accuracy and accountability.

Although we aim to verify information before publication, journalism sometimes involves changing information, incomplete records, human error, or new evidence.

When a material error is identified, our goal is to correct it responsibly.

What We Correct

Corrections may be appropriate for errors involving:

  • Names

  • Dates

  • Locations

  • Statistics or figures

  • Incorrect attribution

  • Material factual statements

  • Misidentification

  • Significant missing context

  • Headlines that inaccurately represent the article

Minor spelling, punctuation, formatting, or typographical changes that do not alter the meaning of an article may be corrected without a formal correction notice.

How Corrections Are Handled

When a potential error is reported, HYDNEWS may:

  1. Review the original article.

  2. Examine the evidence provided.

  3. Recheck relevant sources.

  4. Determine whether a factual correction is required.

  5. Update the article where appropriate.

  6. Add clarification or a correction note when the change is significant enough to warrant one.

Updates vs. Corrections

An update adds new information to a story that was accurate when originally published.

A correction fixes information that was materially inaccurate.

A clarification may be used when the original wording was technically accurate but could reasonably create a misleading impression.

Requesting a Correction

If you believe an HYDNEWS article contains an error, please contact us and provide:

  • The URL of the article

  • The statement you believe is incorrect

  • Your explanation of the issue

  • Supporting evidence or authoritative sources, where available

Providing specific information helps us investigate requests efficiently.

Our Commitment

We do not believe responsible journalism means pretending errors never happen.

It means taking credible concerns seriously and correcting significant mistakes when they are identified.
