Once Against Bifurcation of Andhra, Pawan Kalyan Launches Political Journey From Telangana
Hyderabad: Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan kickstarted his “political tour” by offering prayers at the Anjaneya Swamy temple in Kondagattu in Jagtial district of Telangana.
Thousands of people gathered to welcome the actor and extend their support as he embarked on his political journey.
The three-day tour is the first official political yatra for the actor ahead of 2019 state Assembly elections. Pawan Kalyan has already announced that his party Jana Sena would contest elections in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Popularly known as “Power Star”, Pawan Kalyan enjoys a big fan following in both Telugu states.
During his tour, he aims to meet party workers and common people to understand the issues they are facing in various districts of Telangana.
Post-bifurcation, Pawan Kalyan and his party’s politics is primarily focused on Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, beginning his political yatra from Telangana has certainly raised eyebrows.
Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan, who was critical of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s attitude during the statehood movement, was seen praising him for providing 24X7 power to farmers during their meet on New Year’s eve in Hyderabad.
The opposition has been quick to question his political motives.
“Pawan Kalyan was against bifurcation, and now he wants to do politics in Telangana. He is nothing but a pawn used by KCR. When entire opposition, students, activists are being denied permissions in the state, how has Pawan Kalyan got the red carpet to tour Telangana? asked Krishank, Spokesperson for Telangana Congress.
The actor, however, explains that he chose Kodangattu in Telangana to launch his political campaign as it was here that he got a new lease of life after a narrow escape during 2009 election campaign.
In 2014, Pawan Kalyan’s support to BJP-TDP alliance played an important role in increasing their vote share. However, since then the equation has changed.
Pawan Kalyan has been publicly attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party led Union government and Telugu Desam Party led state government for not fulfilling poll promises, particularly Special Status, and turning a deaf ear to the problems of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Krishna Sagar Rao, spokesperson, Telangana BJP also launched a scathing attack, and called Jana Sena party a flop film, even before the release.
“Rather than questioning TRS government over their failures, Pawan Kalyan goes and praises KCR. Rather than asking questions, he shakes hands with the Chief Minister. Jana Sena party is nothing but B-team of TRS in Telangana,” Krishna Sagar Rao said.
“Recently, it was Pawan Kalyan who raised the issue of North-South divide, language divide and regional divide only for his political agenda. People understand his divisive political campaign and nobody accepts such politics”, he added. #KhabarLive
