Besides online campaign, the TRS NRI wing is conducting awareness programmes for NRIs through its branches spread across 32 countries. TRS NRI wing launched an online campaign to encourage Telangana NRIs to register themselves as overseas electors in the voters list on or before September 25 and become part of the election process in the State.
The enrolment will not only enable NRIs to vote in person, but also enable them to participate in proxy voting whenever it is introduced in the country.
“We are using social media to reach out to Telangana NRIs and encourage them to enrol their names in the voters’ list using online registration process. Thus, those who are visiting India during the elections, will be eligible to vote,” said TRS NRI Wing Coordinator Mahesh Bigala. Besides online campaign, the TRS NRI wing is conducting awareness programmes for NRIs through its branches spread across 32 countries.
NRIs whose name is not registered in the electoral roll and did not acquire citizenship of any other country as well as residing outside India, are eligible to register their names in the electoral roll as ‘Overseas electors’ in the constituency in one’s place of residence in India as mentioned in their respective passports.
Interested NRIs can download the application form from ‘https://eci.nic.in/eci_main/forms/Form-6A.pdf’ and also obtain more information from the Election Commission of India website for further details. They can also approach the TRS NRI wing branch in their respective countries for further assistance. #KhabarLive
