It looks like Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided against campaigning even for his party, if not for the entire Maha Kootami (grand alliance) of which it is a partner, in the coming assembly elections in Telangana.

Instead, he is learnt to have decided to send his brother-in-law and senior actor Nandamuri Balakrishna for the campaigning.

And the Hindupur MLA straightaway took a plunge into action and kick-started the party’s campaign at Madhira assembly constituency in Khammam district on Monday.

Interestingly, Madhira, which has been reserved for Scheduled Castes, is the constituency of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

It is not exactly known why Balakrishna has chosen this constituency to start the poll campaign, as the TDP cannot ask for this seat as part of alliance.

In any case, Balakrishna got a rousing reception in Madhira, as it falls in the borders of Andhra and Telangana.

The TDP leaders mobilised huge crowds for his rally and he unveiled a huge statue of his father late N T Rama Rao at Dendukur village.

He asked the people to see that the TDP won the elections. He expressed hope that the Maha Kootami would win the assembly elections with thumping majority.

According to party sources, Balakrishna would address huge rallies in different parts of Telangana, including Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad districts where TDP has a strong base.

Apparently, Naidu has chosen Balakrishna as the party’s star campaigner in Telangana, as Junior N T Rama Rao did not evince much interest in the party politics. #KhabarLive
