With complaints of poor maintenance of roads pouring in from different sections, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner M Dana Kishore directed the officials to ensure pothole-free and blacktop roads covering 2,000 km in the corporation limits.

This apart, he instructed the officials to make sure the provision of footpaths on the entire 2,000 km road network. They were also directed to clear construction and demolition debris from roads and maintain sanitation.

“All these tasks should be completed within two months. There should not be any debris or garbage and other waste material on roads,” Dana Kishore told the officials during a meeting here.

There are three-lane and six-lane roads covering 985 km, and there are stretches where buses shuttle regularly. All such roads and stretches should be treated as ‘No Compromise’ roads and dumping of waste or debris should be strictly prohibited on these roads, he said.

He also directed the officials to impose fines on offenders who dump waste on the main roads. Creating awareness about the importance of the maintenance of the roads to the citizens was also stressed upon by him, said a press release. #KhabarLive
