Christmas is here and the city is soaking in festive spirit gearing up for celebrations in a befitting manner. Churches, shopping centres, bakeries are illuminated and decked up with glittering bells, Christmas trees and Christian households are all set to welcome and celebrate and share the festive mood.

For the last two days, city has been abuzz with people decorating trees and setting up cribs at home and acquiring gifts to exchange while preparing for the midnight mass. Malls in the city too wore a bright and busy look with last minute shoppers.

At St Mary’s Church in Secunderabad, a special midnight holy is to be organised by Rev Thumma Bala, the Archbishop of Hyderabad, who will also lead carols in the church. The celebrations here include prayer songs, cake cutting and distribution and Santa Claus show.

Popular churches in the city such as St Joseph’s Cathedral, Centenary Methodist Church, Basilica of Our Lady of Assumption, St George’s Church, Shrine of Our Lady of Health and St Anthony’s Church are all decorated with Christmas trees, lights, stars, baubles and bells.

For the midnight mass, children and youngsters started to gather early at the churches to have a look at the cribs.

Christmas cakes continued to be sold briskly at not only the popular bakeries such as Karachi, Pista House, Country Oven and Best Bakery, but every small and big bakery in the colonies across the city witnessed hectic sales. #KhabarLive
